Swim Suit Confidence

Every single summer since I was little, I have struggled with feeling confident in a swim suit. Though I spend hours searching and will spare no expense for the right fit, when I walk out to the beach or step into the pool, I feel as though every flaw is being exposed to the public.

I came across this campaign earlier today and it made me think about swim suit confidence....or my lack-there-of. Lands End has partnered with the Curvy Girl Guide to ensure that every woman regardless of size feels confident in her bathing suit this summer. The girls at the Curvy Girl Guide posted photos of themselves in Lands End swim suits and they look fabulous. Truly, they do!

Entirely coincidental, I am actually a lover of Lands End swim suits. They fit right, feel good and are priced affordable. You can very easily find a tankini or one piece that is age appropriate and not too old-ladyish. Last summer I purchased a black retro-inspired tankini and a navy halter top tankini from Lands End. Both held up great and almost make me feel comfortable.

This summer I had resigned myself to the fact that I may just be a cover-up kinda girl. I thought, rather than investing in a new suit, I will just purchase several beautiful cover-ups that I can wear with a big hat and sunglasses. Chic, right?

But, after seeing these women and this campaign, I am re-thinking my idea. Who wants to spend all summer in a cover-up? I love these suits and am thinking I need to head over to Sears (yes, our Sears actually sells Lands End and Lands End Canvas clothing and swim suits!) to try on a few suits.

I know this post is random. But, I found it timely that the week I have been worrying myself silly about wearing a swim suit, Lands End and Curvy Girl launch this awesome campaign. Of course I won't stop running, doing the 30 Day Shred or watching what I eat. But I could...maybe...stop worrying about what my hips look like in a swim suit. It's all part of being a woman. We all struggle with different insecurities and this just happens to be mine.

I hope I can remember this campaign and the beautiful women on Curvy Girl Guide when I step on the beach in a few weeks. Life is far too short to be worrying about a few extra pounds.

Here's to summer and the confidence to swim!

  1. I love this post! And I'm disappointed. We have a Sears, but no Lands End in them! Ugh. Would love to try some of the suits on that I've seen! You are beautiful and will look great this summer! XOXO

  3. You know, I've never looked at Sears close enough to see if they carry Lands End(here in Memphis, I mean). I need to check it out. Fabulous post.
